Anthostem is a play on the Greek word anthéō (ἀνθέω) and stem.
Antheo (ἀνθέω) means to blossom or flourish in Greek. The Greek language was chosen to honor the history of revolutionary mathematicians.
Stem relates to the starting point of blossoming, as we start at the stem. It is also related to S.T.E.M., as the core principles of science, technology, and engineering wouldn't be possible without math.
